Outdoor Decking and How to Look After It

Although having decking in your garden is nice and it looks visually appealing, it can be frustrating to maintain, especially in the rush to get the garden looking presentable for Spring and Summer. If this sounds like something you can relate to, then might we suggest you could be using the wrong product to maintain your decking?

If you're looking for a product that is easy to use and can help maintain the gorgeous grain of your outdoor decking with tons of other, added benefits then keep reading...

Introducing Osmo Decking Oil! A premium grade, solvent-based oil for all softwood and hardwood outdoor decking. This product provides excellent weather and dirt resistance, contains UV filters to protect the colour for longer, enhances the natural character of the wood, prevents cracking, splitting and warping and dries to a smooth, satin finish. What more could you want?

Oh and naturally, the application of Osmo Decking Oil is super easy! Check out the step by step guide below:

  1. Before application of any products, ensure the surface is dry, clean and frost-free. The finished surface is influenced by several factors, including the condition of the wood therefore we would recommend a trial application before getting started.
  2. Next, we would then recommend applying a base coat using Osmo Natural Oil Woodstain
  3. Once dry, then go in with your Osmo Decking Oil. Apply a thin layer along the wood grain and spread well (usually using a flat or decking brush works well).
  4. When you have applied your first layer, we would then recommend leaving to dry for 12 hours. Usually one coat applied to a clean and dry surface is usually sufficient.

When it comes to maintenance, we would recommend regularly cleaning your outdoor decking to avoid any build up. Also, if signs of wear become visible, simply re-apply one coat onto the clean and dry surface.

Now you have everything you need to get your decking looking clean and tidy ready for Spring and Summer! Click the link here to find out additional information about Osmo Decking Oil and how other products combined with Osmo Decking Oil can enhance it's quality.
